Lear House opened in 1963 and was a residential home which also offered sheltered accommodation. Nowadays, Lear is purely
for residential care. (Lear is NOT a nursing home)
The house is managed by our
registered care manager and she is responsible for organising the 26-strong care staff who are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week as well as kitchen & domestic staff; thus ensuring the smooth operation of the home for the wellbeing of
our residents.
We have 24 rooms on two floors, the upper floor is serviced by a lift; each room has its
own en-suite bathroom. The room is large enough to fit some of the residents’ own furniture – giving a sense of
home.
The house has 3 bathrooms, a hairdressing salon, a large lounge and dining room and 2 smaller
lounges – one on each floor. Our residents have access to the internet and find this especially useful by keeping in
touch with friends and family via e-mail. The staff are happy to assist with this facility.
Regular activities
and outings are arranged by our enthusiastic volunteers. These are not only for the benefit of the residents but their family
and friends are also welcome.
We are situated just outside the centre of the village of West Kirby on the south coast of
the Wirral Peninsula. Very close to bus and rail services; good variety of shops and cafes also close to a magnificent coast
line with a very good promenade.
